A brilliant surgeon with state-of-the art knowledge and technique. Dr Paul Bours salvaged and corrected an unsatisfactory and deteriorating bunion procedure to my right foot by an orthopaedic surgeon five years previously, freed up the immobilized big toe joint, and repaired and restored the severely damaged second, third, and fourth metatarsals. Seven weeks post-op, with minimal post-operative pain and swelling rapidly diminishing, my foot has been transformed from barely functional to 95% fully operational. It's looking great, too!

Paul Bours - Outside of foot and ankle
Deep Vein Thrombosis
he blood supply of the leg is transported by arteries and veins. The arteries carry blood from the heart to the limbs; veins carry blood back to the heart. The leg contains superficial veins, which are close to the surface, and deep veins, which lie much deeper in the leg.
Peripheral Arterial Disease (P.A.D.)
Commonly referred to as “poor circulation,” Peripheral Arterial Disease (P.A.D.) is the restriction of blood flow in the arteries of the leg.
Equinus
Equinus is a condition in which the upward bending motion of the ankle joint is limited. Someone with equinus lacks the flexibility to bring the top of the foot toward the front of the leg. Equinus can occur in one or both feet.

#Paul #Bours- Foot Surgical risk and complications
Surgery is only considered after conservative management such as
stretching, orthotics, exercise and shoe modification has been exhausted
or deemed inappropriate. Remember surgery includes an element of risk
of sub-optimal outcomes and complications. Even the best surgeon can
have complications. It is always advised to consider a second opinion
when considering surgery. If you have seen another surgeon I am happy to
provide further advice. Call us on 9252 2088.

Paul bours - orthopaedic surgery:
Podiatric surgeons are podiatrists who have post graduate training in surgery to a level needed to obtain Commonwealth accredited specialist registration. This is a different pathway from an orthopaedic surgeon who obtains specialist registration, then works toward sub-specialisation in foot and ankle. Arguably, the time and experience spent in training looking at foot and ankle problems by an orthopaedist will be less than that of a podiatric surgeon. On the other side of the argument Podiatric Surgeons don’t have experience in delivering babies or performing hip replacements, but nor do they need to!

Sydney surgical podiatrist Paul Bours
An interstate Podiatrist recommended Dr Paul Bours to me when moving to
Sydney in 2000. He has been an outstanding professional who has
sustained a caring and knowledgeable association with me throughout that
15 years. He has impressed me with his integrity and willingness to
discuss a range of foot issues, including potential surgery during this
extended period of professional consultation. I never hesitate to
recommend him to my colleagues/friends/family.
